ABOUT THE EAGLES
The Eagles take on the Red Wolves with an overall record of 6-14 (3-5) after dropping three-straight conference matchups over the last week to Brescia, IU-Southeast and Ohio Christian.
During league-play, CCU's offense is posting over 82 points per game and pulls down the 23rd-most offensive rebounds in the country (12.25) per game. Four of CCU's starting five are averaging double-figure scoring.
Sophomore Blake Walsman anchors this offense with his 17.8 ppg and 8.7 rebounds. Walsman posted a season-high 33 points against Ohio Christian last week and has piled up 83 points over the last three games. The sophomore has also recorded double-figure scoring performances in 18 of 20 matchups this season, and his 174 rebounds this season are the most on the Eagle depth chart.
Guard Khari Burton aids Walsman in his scoring efforts, while also posting 10.5 points of his own. Burton paces the team in assists (76) while averaging nearly four helpers per game.
The Red Wolves are on a five-game win streak en route to their 17-5 (8-1) record this season. While holding opponents to just over 73 ppg, second lowest in the league, while also posting the third-best shooting percentage in the River States Conference (.485).
Aside from scoring, IUE defends the ball as recording the third-most 102 blocks in the country and stopping 4.63 shots per game. Forward Aaron Thomas's 45 blocks rank seventh in Division II with 2.045 bpg.
IU-East also has a strong outside game while shooting over 42-percent from long range. Kyle Pipenger has accounted for 51 triples this year with a nearly 50-percent success rate.
The Eagles finally return home next weekend for a pair of league contests against West Virginia Tech on Friday (Jan. 27) at 7 p.m. and Rio Grande on Saturday (Jan. 28) at 3 p.m.
